The five-masted tall ship Royal Clipper has had a facelift. The 227-passsenger 134 metre flagship of the Star Clippers’ fleet sailed out of a Trinidad dry dock with new carpet in the dining room and corridors, new seating upholstery, freshly painted cabins, rejuvenated bathrooms and re-varnished wood panelling.
The other two ships in the fleet are Star Flyer (refurbished last year) and Star Clipper. The Royal Clipper, with a complement of 42 sails, is the largest full-rigged sailing ship in the world, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and premium accommodation.
It also has three swimming pools, a three-deck atrium, a no-tie dress code in its dining room, a marine platform for water sports and a spa and health club with underwater portholes.
