The ministry has issued an expression of interest document to generate input from all stakeholders.
Entitled Expressions of interest for growing New Zealand’s share of the international business events market and strengthening the national network of convention venues, it is accessible on the government electronic tenders service website: www.gets.govt.nz
“New Zealand will need a large-scale capacity venue, alongside an enhanced network of complementary smaller venues throughout the country,” said Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Economic Development.
“We have asked the industry to come up with creative ways to deliver this.”
Venue development was “not the whole story,” said Brownlee. “We also want views on how convention venues can work together more collaboratively, as a national network.”
We will have more details in the May-June print edition of MICE-BTN magazine.
