PCOA registered for training

The Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) has been registered against the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

As such, the PCOA is now able to offer nationally accredited training programs specialising in conference and event management which have been developed, delivered and assessed by qualified and experienced conference and event managers.

PCOA Member Services manager Jennifer Milward, who was responsible for the Association gaining RTO status, said attendance and successful completion of the courses earns course participants credit points towards Certified Event Manager (CEM) accreditation with the PCO Association, as well as being awarded the following qualifications: Certificate III in Events;  Diploma of Events and Advanced Diploma of Events.

The PCOA will provide training for: People already in the conference and events industry who need re-training or formal industry qualifications; people changing career or seeking career advancement; new practitioners who want to learn about the conference and events industry and organisations that want to improve the skills of their staff.

Training programs will be offered as follows: In-class training program held in July; in-class training program held in conjunction with the annual conference in December and distance learning via training and resource packages that allow participants to study at their own pace and in their own time.

The Association recognises that the majority of members have industry experience, knowledge and skills which should be recognised as part of a formal qualification and will offer the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning assessment to fast track toward partial or full qualifications.
