Omni hit by hackers?

Omni Hotels & Resorts, a luxury hotel chain operating in North America, says it has had to shut down its systems after a cyber attack that may have been an attempt to extort money.

It continues to welcome customers.

The hotel chain did not immediately share details, but one guest during the attack told social media:

“Apparently their computer systems are down. Checking in on paper, no card machines work, even room keys do not work. Everyone has to be escorted to their room by an employee and the phones and wifi are down.”

Omni operates 50 properties in the United States and Canada and employs more than 23,000 people.

The attack began on March 29.
