Project Sunrise to use Panasonic AV

Australia's Qantas has selected Panasonic Avionics' Astrova in-flight entertainment system with cinema-grade OLED 4K screens for its 12 ultra-long haul A350-1000 Project Sunrise nonstop flights, initially to Europe and the US.

Panasonic Avionics vp product management Andy Masson said that Panasonic knew the ultra-long-haul routes brought with them a new set of passenger needs and expectations.

"Working closely with Qantas, our joint mission was to design a system that delivered all the creature comforts of home - cinema-grade picture quality, high-fidelity audio and enough power to fast-charge passenger devices."

Qantas's A350-1000s will have six first class suites in a 1-1-1 layout, 52 business seats (1-2-1), 40 premium economy seats (2-4-2) and 140 economy seats (3-3-3), plus a shared wellness zone.
