CFM wins easyJet engine order

Europe's easyJet has selected CFM to provide 314 engines to power its order of 157 Airbus aircraft, together with spare engines and secured pricing for 200 engines for the 100 purchase rights.

The agreements for new aircraft and engines are part of easyJet’s fleet renewal order of 56 A320neo and 101 A321neo aircraft for delivery between FY2029 and FY2034.

As a result, the A320neos and A321neos will be powered by the CFM LEAP-1A engines.

Meanwhile, easyJet and easyJet holidays report bookings during its biggest-ever Big Orange sale filled 'two planes a minute' at peak booking periods.

Flights to Amsterdam, Paris, Alicante and Malaga proved the most popular, while Greek island Skiathos, Calabria in Italy and Rovaniemi in Lapland were among destinations that experienced the greatest rise in popularity compared to 2023.

Central European destinations Zadar in Croatia and Tivat in Montenegro aso saw a boost in popularity for 2024.

Last minute flights in January were most popular, as travellers snapped up winter sun breaks - and hot spots like Tenerife saw a boost versus last year.
Geneva, Lyon and Innsbruck were top for ski breaks.

The airline also has focused on expanding ski routes, with the addition of three aircraft in Switzerland that will see it increase its ski flying program by 20 per cent this year compared to last.
